How to Trek Everest Base Camp

Join a tour group by booking a package through an agency. If you are comfortable with the journey on your own (rather than with an agency), hire a guide and/or porter. Complete the Everest Base Camp Trek on your own.

Joining a group is a terrific idea if you are alone and do not want to do the walk alone. At the teahouses, you’ll have plenty of free time to play cards and talk with your friends. If you’re doing it totally on your own, you’ll be in control of all the logistics, which might be difficult if you’re not used to dealing with flights, maps, costs, negotiations, meals, language hurdles, first-aid, and other issues.

Everest Base Camp Packing List

If you didn’t have any winter gear or even walking shoes when you arrived in Kathmandu and bought everything brand new for around $250, you’re in luck (Likely fake North Face). However, as a general rule, all of the equipment can be purchased fresh. Bargaining/second-hand/etc. may help you acquire it at a lower price, but this is one occasion when you want to be strapped for cash just to not get the frost off on mountaintops later. Keep in mind that you will not be doing any laundry. Clothing that dries fast and is lightweight is essential. You only need to shower once.

You can pack limited but essential things in your bag such as 2 pairs of pants that rip off into shorts ($15 each in Kathmandu) (Super Safari style but handy in this situation.) 2 long sleeve quick-dry material shirts ($10 each in Kathmandu). 5 Pairs of Thermal North Face socks ($2-3 per pair in Kathmandu) .1 Fleece pants and sweater. ($25 for top and bottom in Kathmandu), 1 Thermal Lycra long sleeve and pants ($20 in Kathmandu), 5-6 pairs of quick-dry underwear, 1 huge waterproof down jacket (Rented for $1 a day in Kathmandu), Beanie ($1 in Kathmandu), Neck Buff ($2 in Kathmandu), Gloves ($5 in Kathmandu), Other gear, Headlamp, Water Purification pills, and a 1L bottle, Sunblock, Sunglasses, Hat, Watch, Camera gear, and electronics (Not necessary but up to you. Obviously, don’t carry a lot) and Power Bank is the must cause you won’t get an often chance to get your phone and camera charged.

All of your belongings should fit into a backpack with a capacity of no more than 50 liters and a weight of no more than 15 kg. If you don’t want to buy a new bag for a two-week excursion, a 60L backpacking bag is also an ideal option. It will work out perfectly, weighing in at around 13kg with all of the lenses, chargers, and power banks.

Travel Insurance during Everest Base Camp Trek

We have no control over Unforeseen Circumstances. It is preferable to take preventative measures than react after an issue has occurred. To prepare for the worst-case scenario, all hikers are strongly urged to purchase insurance.

Medical bills and helicopter rescue should be covered by your insurance policy. Get to know your body. Counterfeit altitude sickness to board the chopper is a bad idea. In the past, there were a lot of mistakes made in this area. The Nepalese government and, Nepal Tourism Board, on the other hand, have stepped in to supervise and monitor helicopter rescue operations.
