Overview And Highlights

Langtang Gosainkunda Trek is a great combination of the remote and isolated valley of Langtang with the stunning high Mountain Lake of Gosainkunda. This trek is also a great extension of the Langtang Valley Trek. The Langtang Gosainkunda Trek offers a great opportunity to explore the Himalayan passes, pristine valleys, stunning lakes, and diverse cultures. Though directly accessible from Kathmandu, the trekking region remain relatively unexplored and less developed compared to another popular trekking region in Nepal as the classic trail or Gosainkunda trek from sundarijal

The Langtang Gosaikunda trek combines one of Nepal's simpler and prettier climbs with a concluding section that takes hikers down the picturesque Gosaikunda trail. Prior to the 2015 earthquake, which delivered the region a terrible blow, the Langtang region was one of Nepal's most well-known trekking destinations. It took until very recently for the region to recover, albeit tourist numbers are still lower than in previous years. Thus, the valley's once-enchanting natural beauty is still present, and choosing to trek through it contributes to the friendly Tamang population's economic recovery.

Before it leaves the tree line and travels into the alpine regions, past glacial moraine, and on to the restored settlement of Langtang, the road winds through lush rhododendron forest on each side of the river. The yak pasturelands and stunning environment for Kyanjin Gompa, a secluded monastery renowned for the creation of yak cheese, are farther and higher into the valley's inner sanctuary. A comprehensive view of the surrounding mountains, including Langtang Lirung, which towers above the valley at a height of 7234 meters, can be obtained by making the optional climbs to Kyanjin Ri or Cherko Ri.

The Langtang Gosainkunda trail goes east through the dense forest, rises high up to Langtang valley, and goes further to Kyanjin Gompa. Here we experience the spiritual lifestyle of Tibetan- Buddhist people. Kyanjin Gompa, 700 years old monastery, is the most venerated monastery in the region. Climbing Tserko Ri offers a remarkable view of the High Himalayas along the Tibetan border with Langtang Lirung dominating the skyline.

We retrace our step back to Lama Hotel and travel through Big Syabru and Sing Gompa to a high plateau, where holy Gosainkunda is located: adding up the view of Ganesh Himal. Hindus believe that the Lake Gosainkunda have been created by Lord Shiva when he thrust his Trishul (holy Trident) into the mountain and originate water to quench his thirst created by the poison. Thousands of pilgrims flock here every year on the full moon of august to perform the religious act.

The Langtang trek itinerary gradually ascends to Lauribina La and then makes a long descent to Helambu: admiring the great countryside life and scenery. We then continue south via the village of Kutumsang, Chisopani, and Mulkhara before driving back to the hotel in Kathmandu as the Langtang Gosainkunda trek costs.Highlight of Langtang Gosaikunda trek

Best season for Langtang gosaikunda trek

Autumn season

In Gosaikunda, the average high temperature in the autumn is between 28 and 20 degrees. The typical low temperature also varies from 10 to 6 degrees. The Gosaikunda trek is best done in the autumn because of the temperate weather. The busiest seasons for trekking and mountaineering in Nepal are September, October, and November in the fall. The trails are very busy during these months.

September is the first month of the autumnal season following the end of the monsoon season. Early in September, there is a light rain as the monsoon prepares to leave. However, the rain during the monsoon season removes all of the dust from the vegetation and the terrain. There is foliage everywhere in the autumn. Streams, waterfalls, rivers, ponds, and lakes are replenished after the monsoon season. The ideal temperature is the main advantage of autumn. For hikers in the Langtang region, this is one of the ideal times to go. The sky is still largely clear. The gorgeous Himalayas are the ideal subject for your camera's lens at this time. Awe-inspiring vistas of Langtang Lirung, Ganesh, Himalchuli, Dorje Lakpa, and other mountains are visible. You travel over hills, ridges, highlands, alpine forests, and grasslands as you wander.

Spring season

Another great time to go trekking in Nepal is in the spring. Rhododendrons blossom throughout the entire woodland in the spring. Walking through woodlands that are bursting with colorful rhododendrons is very pleasant. The trekkers now enjoy the full journey. Spring is the time of year when flowers blossom and the landscape is lovely. A wide variety of vivid plants and flowers have been used to artistically decorate the roads that lead to the gosainkunda langtang trek. Mountain climbing and trekking are both best during the continuous, mild weather of spring. The dry, bright weather makes it easy to see clearly what is around us. Huge oak and rhododendron trees provide a stunning springtime landscape vista. All throughout the season, springtime days are nice and bearable.

In the spring, the typical high temperature in Gosaikunda is between 18 and 30 degrees. The average low temperature also varies from 6 to 18 degrees. Trekking is still a fantastic idea in early June. You can hike to Gosaikunda in the first or second week of June as well, as the weather is dry until mid-June.

Winter season

In the winter, Gosaikunda experiences highs that often range from 18 to 22 degrees. The typical low temperature also varies from 2 to 6 degrees. The Gosainkunda trip is still recommended for early and mid-December. As December draws to a close, snow begins to fall in high-altitude regions. Among them are Lauribinayak Pass and Gosaikunda. The trek is still feasible even though it is snowing. But be aware that Lauribina Pass may become blocked by heavy snowfall. The lake stays frozen throughout the winter and for a few months after.

You can benefit from trekking in Gosaikunda during the autumnal season till mid-December. After mid-December, winter truly begins. The maximum temperature during this time of year often ranges from 18 to 22 degrees in the winter. The minimum temperature often ranges from 2 to -6 degrees Celsius. In light of this, it is not as chilly as on some other high-altitude climbs in Nepal. You may have a terrific time in Gosaikunda if you are outfitted properly and have the right tools and materials. The frozen waterfalls and lakes are visible. Along with playing entertaining activities, you may enjoy the snowfall in the area. You can get some of the nicest vistas of snow-covered mountain summits in the winter.

Monsoon season

During the monsoon season, the high temperatures in Gosaikunda often vary from 30 to 22 degrees. Similarly, the average low temperature varies from 17 to 21 degrees. In the monsoon, the Langtang region is beautiful because of the emerald green grasslands and rhododendron forests. But the beginning of the monsoon in mid- or late June drastically reduced the number of trekkers. The monsoon season is when the vistas are obscured by clouds and rain. Furthermore, the trails are slick and rainy.

Throughout the months of June, July, and August, rain clouds surround Nepal's atmosphere. The monsoon season, often known as the summer season, is when it rains sometimes. It is also a hot and muggy time of year. The sky is filled with rain clouds that block out views of the mountains. The scene after the rain, however, can feature crisp vistas of mountains and washed-out landscapes. The monsoon's temperature ranges from hot and muggy before rain to a little chilly after.

Gosaikunda is a moderate-level hike whose difficulty is greatly influenced by the environment. similar to your means of transportation, your route, or the time of year you are walking. These elements affect how challenging or easy the walk will be. The 108 lakes, a sacred place for both Hindus and Buddhists, are the trek's main draw. It is well-liked by foreign tourists because it is short and close to the capital city. The walk is easy because there isn't any technical climbing involved. You will ascend to Gosaikunda's 4380m elevation throughout this walk.

Distance and duration

In the Langtang National Park is the Gosaikunda lake. It is located in the Rasuwa district at a height of 4380m (14,370ft). The Gosaikunda trek begins at Dhunche, 2000 meters above sea level, and ends at Gosaikunda, 4380 meters above sea level. In a typical 16-day schedule, you'll walk for about 5-7 hours per day. It could be challenging for someone who doesn't walk routinely or isn't engaged in physical work because you'll be walking a lot. So the best way to make this travel easier is to get ready before you go. You can achieve this by going on daily, four to five-hour hikes, as well as stair climbing, jogging, etc.

Weather and temperature

Any trek's difficulty is significantly influenced by the temperature and weather. The spring season in Gosaikunda is when the forest blooms with rhododendron and magnolia blossoms, giving it a vibrant appearance. One of the greatest times to hike Gosaikunda is now. Therefore, now is a really convenient time to go hiking.

The best time to complete the Gosaikunda trek is in the fall. Due to the abundance of crops, lush forest, and less likelihood of rain during this time. The daytime high is up to 33 degrees Celsius, and the nighttime low is about 6 degrees Celsius. The weather is fantastic at this time of year, and your hikes are very cozy.

Altitude sickness

Most people experience altitude sickness when you hike above 3000 meters. You run a high risk of developing altitude sickness if you hike to a height of 4800 m. The air gets thinner and it becomes more difficult to breathe as you hike up to a greater elevation. So, if you experience nausea, a headache, or a fever, move instantly to the lower part of your body. You can take a break there before continuing your adventure, this time with a few breaks along the way.

The Gosaikunda walk begins at Dhunche, 2000 meters below sea level, and ascends to Gosaikunda, 4380 meters above.

Neglecting the symptoms of altitude sickness could be dangerous. By adhering to the fundamental guidelines, this voyage will be much easier for you. Many problems can be resolved by drinking lots of water or moving slowly. You can also take Diamox, a medication that eases altitude sickness.

Stress

The Gosaikunda Trek entails walking nonstop for a few days with a 7-8 hour hike per day, which is a significant undertaking in and of itself. It may wear you out and stress you out, both physically and mentally.

It takes several hours to climb the difficult trail with numerous steps, which is really demanding. Contrarily, living in constant worry of landslides, illnesses, being lost, and failing to reach the summit will drain a lot of your vitality. Some of you could experience homesickness and miss all your opulent possessions back home.

Time

Before beginning your Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, you must find out when the best time to travel. Choosing the ideal time for your Langtang Trek will help you avoid some of the challenges you might encounter. Choosing the ideal time for the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek entails picking a period of time with the ideal weather and temperature for hiking. These are not feasible since winter is too cold with below-freezing temperatures and summer and monsoon are either too hot and dry or have excessive rainfall that makes the roads dangerous.

We are now left with spring and autumn. The unique vegetation, animals, and biodiversity of the area are best viewed during the spring season. Additionally, the weather and climate are good there. Additionally, the least possibility of precipitation occurs in the autumn. These are the explanations for why spring and fall are the optimal seasons for a Langtang Trek.

It is very important to overcome the Gosainkunda trek difficulty if you follow some tips:-

Physical Exercise

Since Gosaikunda is a short walk, you don't need to prepare for it months in advance. Try brief hikes, swimming, and other doctor-recommended activities for a week. If you have never gone on a hike, you can also warm up your body in the gym. Fitness is a requirement for the hike. Being healthy is considered fit, but not having a flawless body is. Although the walk is a modest one, it might not be challenging for seasoned hikers.

Although the Langtang Trek is a modest trek that does not require technical expertise, keep in mind that you may still need to be physically fit. Getting physically fit entails being mentally and physically healthy. Trekking also requires a lot of mental toughness. Your mental state will help you unwind and enjoy your adventure.

Your confidence will likely increase, and you'll be inspired to do more if you're physically fit. It has been observed that most physically fit individuals were committed to continuing their walk and successfully completing some of the toughest treks. Therefore, I want to say that being physically fit is very important for the success of your Langtang Trek.

Acclimatization

Taking the right acclimatization precautions is one of the main strategies to prevent or lessen the hardship of the Langtang Trek. You can get acute altitude sickness, which is one of the main challenges. By taking the right precautions and preparations, this can be avoided. Your odds of experiencing altitude sickness can be completely eliminated with carefully scheduled acclimatization days.

Hire a well-trained guide or porter

Get experienced porters and guides for your walk, as this is yet another crucial piece of advice. This facilitates using the safest routes and avoiding any risky or damaged roads. Hiring qualified tour guides with a thorough understanding of your language and the roads is always a good idea to be on the safe side.

Hiring a porter and hiring a qualified guide also lessens your trek's difficulty. You can avoid carrying your bulky bags throughout the walk by hiring porters. Sometimes the amount of luggage you are carrying severely limits your capacity to hike. Therefore, employ a porter to take the burden off your shoulders.

Pack well Before starting your journey, it is very important to know what to pack and what not to. Make sure you are packing your bag with the necessary equipment and are bringing the proper gear with you. If you are starting your trek with the necessary equipment, then you can complete your trek without any difficulties.
