Everest base camp trek permit

As Everest Base Camp is located inside the Sagarmatha region's protected zone, you must have a permit with you at all times. Before hiking, all permits must be in your possession if you are not a citizen of Nepal. Even Nepalese citizens must obtain a few permits before beginning their climb to Everest Base Camp. Therefore, regardless of your nationality or immigration status, you must be aware of the need for Everest Base Camp hiking permits. Officers can check your permission at any time at one of the several checkpoints that are available. You can request a new permit with an additional fee if you don't have your current one. Before beginning your Everest trek, you will require two government-issued permits: Sagarmatha National Park and Khumbu Rural Municipality.

Sagarmatha National Park entry permit

A Sagarmatha National Park entry permit is needed to enter the park, which is situated in Nepal's Everest Himalaya region. Entry costs for the park can be paid at the Tourist Service Center in Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, or at the Manju entry point on the Everest Base Camp Trek route. Sagarmatha National Park, which spans an area of around 1148 square kilometers in Nepal's Himalayan region, is located there. The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation is located at Bhrikuti Mandap in Kathmandu, where you can obtain a national park permit, or you can obtain one in Manjo village, which is on the way to Everest base camp, at the Sagarmatha national park office.

Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit

The national government took the decision to transfer authority to local governments. The TIMS card was replaced by the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality Permit following the implementation of new regulations. Since October 2018, this new permit has taken the place of the conventional TIMS card. The local authority charges a tax in the form of this permit on visitors. Local governments are permitted to impose tourism fees on tourists under the new constitution. Consequently, it is now necessary to get this permit. If you are traveling by plane to Lukla, you must obtain this permit once you have reached Lukla. This permit can be obtained in Monjo at the Sagarmatha National Park counter by hikers traveling from Jiri or Salleri to the Khumbu region. The Lukla office that issues this permission is located right along your trail. A permit to enter Mount Everest costs NPR 2000 for the first four weeks and NPR 2500 for stays longer than four weeks. The permit fees are not included in the VAT.

Gaurishankar Conservation Area Permit (Optional)

You have an alternative between taking a flight or driving to start your Everest Base Camp trip. To begin this trek, you must get to Jiri if you so desire. Jiri to Everest Base Camp is a well-liked substitute for the traditional trip because it enables you to travel and lengthen your trek by a few days. The Gaurishankar Conservation Area is where a portion of the journey takes place. Therefore, you also need a permit for the conservation area if you intend to hike this path.

The Nepal Tourism Board office in Kathmandu sells this permit. Alternatively, you can obtain it at the area's gateway. This permit can be obtained at the entry point itself or at the Nepal Tourism Board's main office on Pradarshani Marg in Kathmandu. Through a Nepal Gazette notice published on July 19, 2010 (Section 60, Number 14, Part 5, 2067/04/03 B.S.), the government of Nepal has given the National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) a 20-year management contract for the Gaurishankar Conservation Area. On January 11, 2010 (Section 59, Number 38, Part 5, 2066/09/27 B.S. ), the Government of Nepal published a Nepal Gazette notice designating the Gaurishankar Conservation Area (GCA). It is the third conservation area that the government of Nepal has given the NTNC authority over.
