Located in mid of Lhasa city, Jokhang temple is the center of Gelugpa (yellow) Branch of Tibetan Buddhism. The temple was built in 647 AD; it houses ancient and several worth-exploring shrines.
Barkhor Street is an ancient city that offers the perfect combination of bustling market, pilgrimage kora and cultural experience. The street follows the clockwise route of Jokhang and remains busy at the time of evening and dusk. Enjoy kora with the pilgrims to receive some spiritual vibes!
Drepung Monastery tour is one of the most important part of Tibet Lhasa city trip. The monastery is one three major Gelukpa monasteries, along with Sera Monastery and Ganden Monastery. It was built in 1416 and a major learning center for more than 10,000 monks.

Today we explore Potala Palace, the winter place of Dalai Lama. It is located on the red hill, a good view point in Lhasa. Potala Palace is full of shrines and monuments where you can see pack of devotees offering their religious worshippers. The palace was put into use in 7th century by the 33rd king of the Tibet.
We also visit the renowned Jokhang Temple that offers the first glimpse of Tibetan. Here we discover Sakyamuni which is considered as the Tibetan Buddhism’s rarity. You can also witness many devout pilgrims prostrating in front of the temple.
Next, we stroll around the quaint street of Barkhor to explore ancient art and architecture.
If time allows, we can visit the Tibetan Handicraft art or Tibetan Traditional Medicine center. You can explore the traditional Tibetan culture show that costs around USD 60. (not included on package)
After breakfast, we visit the Drepung Monastery – one of great three Gelug Monasteries in Tibet founded in 1416 by Jamyang Choge.
We also explore the largest monastery kitchen and visit nearby Buddhist Sculpture Carving.
We embark for Sera Monastery, another great three Gelung Monasteries in Tibet. Here we explore the Monks debate held at around 3 – 5 PM in the noon. Moreover, we take a short visit to the Tibetan religious scripture inside the monasteries where we explore the Mandalas and rock paintings of Lord Buddha.
