The Ghorepani hill trek is also known as the Poon hill trek and is considered the most leisurely trek in the Annapurna sanctuary. This trek will be the perfect alternative for beginners, which you can complete in just 5 days. Before attempting one of the more difficult trails like the Annapurna Circuit or the Annapurna Base Camp trek, the Poon Hill is a fantastic trail to complete as an acclimatization trip.
As the walk passes through rhododendron woodland, terraced hills, paddy fields, and lush foliage, hikers will get a strong impression of this area. Equally pleasant is the friendly welcome from the nearby Gurung and Magar villages. At a height of roughly 2874 meters (9429 feet), Ghorepani is a village in central Nepal that is a part of the Annapurna Conservation Area. The famed obstacle at Ulleri, where there are more than 3000 stone stairs to scale, is part of this journey, also referred to as the Annapurna Sunrise Trek.

Permit required for short Ghorepani hill trek
We need two permits for a short Ghorepani hill trek Trekking information management system (TIMS) and the Annapurna conservation area project (ACAP). If you book your trek through a qualified travel agency, they'll take care of all the paperwork and permits for you. Trekkers who are guided by an agency just need to submit one photo; they are not required to appear in person at the permission desk. Individual trekkers are required to submit two photos, and all members of your party must appear in person at the permission counter.
Why we need to take Trekking information management system (TIMS)
You need a Trekkers Information Management Systems (TIMS) Permit for your own safety. TIMS is useful for many reasons, which are as follows:-
Each permit only allows for one entrance.
Permits are not transferable or refundable once they have been issued.
Read the application form carefully as it will determine the permit's validity.
The cost of permits is the same whether you are travelling for 5 days or 10 days.
At every counter along the path, the permit information must be entered.
Why do we need to take the Annapurna conservation area project (ACAP)?
ACAP is the most well-liked trekking destination in the nation, drawing the majority of all trekkers there thanks to its natural and cultural attractions. According to estimates, a typical trekking party of 15 people produces roughly 15 kilos of non-biodegradable and non-burnable trash during the course of a 10-day journey, amounting to tons of waste per year in mountainous areas.
ACAP was established with the purpose of "achieving a sustained balance between nature conservation and socio-economic improvement in the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) in order to assist the National Trust for Nature Conservation in achieving its goal" in order to better manage this, protect the environment, respect the local people's traditional livelihoods, and ensure that wildlife is not harmed.
The main objectives of the Annapurna conservation area project are mentioned below:-
Protect Annapurna conservation area’s natural resources in order to protect current and future generations.
Bring locals sustainable social and economic development.
Create a tourism industry that has the least possible detrimental effects on the ecological, socio-cultural, and economic ecosystems.

On this day, we will start our day with a ride from Pokhara to Tikhedhunga and then to Ghorepani. Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will drive towards Tikhedhunga. After a picturesque 1:30-hour drive, we will arrive at Nayapool. From Nayapul, we will travel across numerous streams and hillocks to reach Tikhedhunga (1,495m/4, 905ft). On the route to Ghorepani, a little village called Tikhedhunga has a variety of traditionally constructed tea houses that offer accommodation. Before reaching Ghorepani, we will first cross the suspension bridge, then ascend to Ulleri village, Banthati, and pass through the picturesque panoramic scenery and rich green forest, where you can view some wild creatures and a great variety of birds. We walk up the stone path all the way to Ghorepani as we depart Ulleri, a village with sparkling views, culture, and hospitality. Along the way, Annapurna is on our right, while a wildflower-filled forest and muddy, soggy hills are on our left. You may want to admire individuals who may have built the road as you travel, as it can seem like the stone steps are never-ending at times.
We travel to Poon-viewpoint Hill early in the morning (about 4 or 4:30) to get a wide-angle view of the dawn. From here, you may witness magnificent dawn. Looking at the sun rising on the Dhaulagiri Mountain Range, Annapurna Mountain Range, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu, Ganesh, and several other Himalayan ranges seems nothing less than magnificent, especially with people at a number of 200 or more, after an hour-long uphill walk in a cold breeze while sipping coffee or tea sold by a guy out there.
Following our enjoyment of the scenery, we return to the hotel for breakfast before continuing our ascent to Deaurali and descending to Banthanti, where we will cross a tiny bridge to arrive at Tadapani Village. Overnight in the Tadapani includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
After an overnight in Tadapani, we headed north on the road as we reached Tadapani, although it was a downward slope. The route was well-known. rhododendrons, moss-covered tree trunks, and scarlet petals all over the ground. A few fallen trees here and there, the dew glistening in the morning light. We soon left the woodlands and entered farmland and grazing.
Afterwards, we continued down the Chomrong Pass, which runs along the edge of a steep slope, until we located "Green Hill," where we rested for lunch. The "Kadoorie" bridge was probably excessively high. At Taulung, the Chomrong Pass separates in two directions. Going left will take you to ABC and Chomrong; going right will take you to Jinhudanda and a severe fall. Our accommodations at the "Hot Spring Cottage and Restaurant" included a sizable room with a mountain view and a private toilet.
We arrived on the last day of our trek. The walk along the right side of Modi Khola after leaving the Jhinu Danda hot springs is the most tranquil of the entire expedition. We eventually arrive at Siwa/Ghandruk Phedi. Panoramas of the surrounding Annapurna range may be seen from Ghandruk, including good views of Annapurna I, the tenth-highest mountain in the world. Despite this, the settlement is only 2,000 m (6,562 ft) tall, so you can view snow-covered Himalayan peaks without having to hike at a high altitude. After saying goodbye to the trails, we return to Pokhara via a scenic drive across the countryside.
Early in the morning, after having our breakfast, we head towards Pokhara. The 200 km route offers a good view of the surrounding countryside and farming as it first follows the Marsyangdi River and then the Trishuli River. You will enter the Kathmandu Valley when the bus ascends one final hill.
Yes, we need two permits for the Ghorepani hill trek, the Trekking Information Management System (TIMS) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).
The elevation of Poon Hill is considerably lower, at 3,210 meters. However, Poon Hill is a popular choice among short treks because of its beautiful views. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek can be the ideal choice if you're seeking a brief and easier climb.
No, you can not see Mount Everest from the Ghorepani Hill trek. But you can glimpse the other high-range mountains, including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Machapuchere, Hinchuli, and so on.
Yes, solo trekkers are allowed on the Ghorepani hill trek as this trek is easy and short. There are no difficulties during this trek.
The best times for the Ghorepani hill trek are the seasons of spring and autumn. The temperatures are moderate and you can glimpse a clear view of your surroundings.
Poon Hill is 36 kilometres away from Pokhara. The trek's true beginning is at Naya Pool, which is 62 kilometres away from Pokhara's lakeside. Due to this, it is a fairly short and easy hike.
You will be served while walking in the teahouses. Noodle, rice, pasta, or potato dishes are frequently served with vegetables and egg, chicken, or meat dishes. Other common breakfast fare includes toast with peanut butter and honey, eggs, pancakes, bread, porridge, and muesli.
Yes, if you are a beginner, then you can also take part in the Ghorepani hill trek. This is an easy and short trek which you can complete successfully without any difficulties.
The trek to Ghorepani Poon Hill does not have an age restriction, but you must be in the good physical condition and have a cheerful outlook. We advise you to see your doctor before the adventure in order to get the appropriate approval, guidance, and prescriptions for drugs for travelling at extremely high altitudes.

Amazing Short Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking 5 Days
Dip, the owner, was also very helpful and accommodating. He went the extra mile to assist me in all the requirements to get my travel document, as temporary replacement for the lost passport I lost while hiking.
Indeed, booking Nepal Horizon Treks was one of the best decisions we did for this trip. We will definitely book them again and recommend them to our friends.
