Our adventure begins early in the morning. We drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which takes around 1.5 hours. From Nayapul, you start trekking through terraced fields, riverside paths, and lush hills toward the beautiful village of Ghandruk. This village of Gurung settlement offers stunning views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare (Fishtail). It’s a moderate trek for the first day, gradually introducing you to the rhythm of the mountains. You’ll spend the night in a cozy teahouse in Ghandruk, soaking in the serene mountain ambiance.
We start our day by having breakfast. After breakfast, the trail descends steeply to the Kimrong Khola river before ascending up again through forested terrain to reach Chhomrong—a picturesque village perched on a hillside, offering one of the best panoramas of the Annapurna range. The trek includes some steep ascents and descents but rewards you with breathtaking scenery along the way. Chhomrong also marks the gateway into the sacred Annapurna Sanctuary. Overnight at a teahouse in Chhomrong.
Today’s trek takes you deeper into the forested trails of the region. You’ll descend stone steps, cross a suspension bridge, and then climb through dense bamboo and rhododendron forests. The trail passes Bamboo, a small settlement named after the surrounding groves, and continues up to Dovan, a quiet stop nestled in the trees. The air becomes crisper as you gain elevation, and the crowds thin out as you push farther toward the base camp. Overnight at a teahouse in Dovan.
This is the most exhilarating and rewarding day of the trek. You'll ascend gradually past Deurali and Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC), entering the sacred Annapurna Sanctuary. As you climb higher, the valley opens up dramatically, and you’re surrounded by towering Himalayan giants. The final stretch to Annapurna Base Camp is nothing short of awe-inspiring—panoramic views of Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare form a 360-degree amphitheater of peaks. Spend the night at ABC under a sky full of stars.
Wake up early for an unforgettable sunrise over the Annapurna range. After breakfast, begin your descent along the same trail, retracing your steps through MBC, Deurali, and Bamboo. From Bamboo or a nearby trailhead, you can arrange a jeep ride back to Pokhara, allowing you to wrap up the trek by evening. Alternatively, you can break up the return with another night on the trail. Either way, today marks the end of an incredible 5-day journey through one of Nepal’s most scenic and spiritually rich trekking routes.
