After breakfast, we take a short drive northward through the farmland to Dhampus Phedi. Then we climb up to Dhampus Phedi (1,700m) and continue to a ridge that leads us to the prosperous village of Dhampus. We stop there for lunch.
From Dhampus, we continue trekking through the lush forest of rhododendron and ascend steadily to the beautiful village of Pothana (1,900m). Here we get the angular views of Machhapuchhre and higher peaks behind.

After breakfast, we continue ascending through the farmland before entering the forest and a path over red clay (that might be slippery if wet). A steep but scenic descend leads us to the village of Tolka (1790m). We drop down through the staircase and cross Tigu Khola before ascending to the village of Landruk. After lunch at Landruk, we cross the Modi Khola and climb to the attractive hillock village of Jhinu Danda.

After breakfast, we begin our trek with steep and zigzag climb through the terraced fields of maize and vegetable. We join main ABC trail at Taglung (2,190m). A short walk takes us to the beautiful village of Chhomrong (2210m). It is the highest permanent settlement in the valley.
Next, we drop down via broad stone staircase and cross the Chhomrong Khola (1,900m) before ascending to the village of Sinuwa (2,350m). After lunch at Sinuwa, we climb to the upper reaches of Modi Khola valley and climb down via stairs to Bomboo. A short climb via uninhabited forest leads us to Doban.

As the altitude rises, the lush vegetation gives way to the alpine scrub and grasses. The trail climbs to Hinku cave, Deurali and then Machhapuchhre Base Camp. It is actually not a base camp because climbing Mt. Machhapuchhre is not permitted. Since it is totally surrounded by mountains, this area is known as Annapurna Sanctuary. Two hours trek form Machhapuchhre Base Camp via grassy slopes leads us to the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at an elevation of 4,130m. Here we get unobstructed view of Annapurna ranges.
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the unforgettable views and photo opportunities from the rim of the glacier. A circular view of Hiunchuli, past Annapurna South and vast ice wall topped by Annapurna I (8,097m/26,566ft), Khangsar Kang, Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Machhapuchhre. After breakfast, we retrace our step slowly down to Sinuwa for a more comfortable night.
