A flight to the 2,837-meter-high Lukla Hilary airport marks the beginning of the Everest base camp and Gokyo Lake expedition. Also on the same day, we made the three-hour trek to Phagding. On day two, we will trek to Namche Bazaar. "Namche," a small but lovely Sherpa settlement, is located 3,440 meters above sea level. After that, we'll go to Tengboche, home of the renowned Guru Rimpoche monastery complex. This trip also reveals the Tengboche monastery, a Tibetan-style gompa that opens at 3 PM for prayer time (puja). We hiked to Pheriche the following day. EBC and Lobuche.

The 40-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is the starting point for the 18-day climb to Everest base camp and Gokyo Lake through Cho La Pass. The walk takes you to Kalapather and Everest base camp first, then via the Cho La Pass, and to the Gokyo Lakes. Best season for Everest base camp
Spring season ( March to May)

The greatest month for short treks to Everest base camp is the Spring season, which runs from March through April. In the spring, the weather is typically calm and ideal for high-altitude climbing. The trail's magnificent views of a clear sky and vibrant rhododendrons, in addition to the sunny skies, undoubtedly play a role. However, even the season with the nicest weather has a price. The location gets a little congested during the warmer season.

You can still climb the mountain in May, just before the monsoon, but you might share the area with other climbers who have already completed a series of "rotations," during which they ascend the mountain higher and higher while periodically returning to Base Camp to rest before finally reaching the summit. The Bengali monsoon determines the ideal weather window for this each year, but most successful summit attempts occur in late May.

Monsoon season ( June- August)

Due to the slick terrain, landslides, leeches, and obscured views, trekking during the rainy season may be rather difficult for trekkers. In addition, the monsoon season in Nepal began in June and finishes in August. However, this time of month brings warmer temperatures and all-day rain. Flying from Lukla, the riskiest airport can be dangerous because of the severe weather. In addition to how you experience the Everest region, flights from Kathmandu to Lukla may be impacted by the weather. The most popular way to get to Lukla is by helicopter, but when the weather is bad in Kathmandu, Lukla, or on the way there, flights are frequently cancelled. Flights can be impacted by rain, fog, or pollution at any time of the year, albeit there is a greater likelihood that they will happen outside of the monsoon season.

Fall season ( September- November)

Fall is also a favourable and secure time of year for short treks to Everest base camp. A little bit colder than springtime is fall. But the breathtaking vistas of the neighbouring peaks that you get to take in at this time of year make it worthwhile. The weather is pleasant, the days are dry, and the views are breathtaking, despite the fact that it is currently colder than it was in the spring. The area has also been completely cleaned by the monsoon rains, giving it an especially lush and verdant appearance.

As the rainy season draws to a close, the lovely surroundings burst into blossom with colourful flowers, the river gushes ferociously, and the cool air offers you a stunning view of the Himalayas. Nepal commemorates its most important festivals during the 15-day Dashain celebration, during which hundreds of animals are slaughtered in honour of Durga, the Goddess of Victory. At the airport in Kathmandu, Nepal Airlines even sacrifices goats on the runway. If you are fortunate enough to get unobstructed views of Mt. Everest, the crown jewel of Nepal, you will surely have the best time in the Everest region in the autumn.

Winter season ( December- February)

For quick Everest base camp treks, climbers avoid the winter months. During the day, the temperature during this season varies between 23 and 25 degrees Celsius. The temperature drops to -20 degrees centigrade at night. If you are suitably dressed for the chilly weather, winter may be a great season for a real adventure. Enjoy the clear skies and stunning mountain views to yourself. If you bring the correct clothing and attire, you can continue your walk during the winter. With the right gear, which includes thicker clothing, thermal coats, thick socks, gloves, first aid, and more, those who can hike in the cold can do so now.

If you want to avoid jostling for space with other passengers, winter is a perfect time to fly. The good news is that the road to Everest Base Camp will be much less crowded as residents of the area depart in droves to avoid the cold. Currently, there are also frequent price reductions for flights and tours.

Day to Day Itinerary Expand/Collapse All

We begin our ascent to Everest Base Camp with a picturesque flight to Lukla. We gather our thoughts after touching down at the Tenzing Hillary Airport before beginning our adventure. Given that this is our first day of the hike, it will be brief, giving us time to acclimate. The route will pass through Chaurikharka Village before descending to Dudhkoshi and then continuing on to Phakding, our final goal for the day. We'll spend our additional time wandering around Phakding, specifically the Rimishung Monastery.

You travel to the lovely Sherpa settlement of Phakding by heading down to the Dudh Koshi River and crossing a suspension bridge. The settlement is directly below the Dudh Koshi river. Later in the day, if you feel like it, you can go down to the riverside to take pictures and enjoy the scenery.

We'll keep traveling north along the Dudh Koshi River's banks, which offers magnificent views of surrounding snow-capped mountains. Many suspension bridges must be crossed, including the well-known Hillary Suspension Bridge. You will eventually arrive at Sagarmatha National Park, where we will register our permits and ascend through the thick forest for our first glimpses of Mount Everest. We won't stop hiking, though, until we get to Namche Bazaar. Overnight in the hotel or lodges in Namche Bazaar.

Our first day will be totally devoted to acclimatization and filled with opportunities for a variety of activities. Numerous wifi-connected hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops, and cafes can be found at Namche Bazaar.

There are a number of additional possibilities, including going to the Hillary School, the Sagarmatha National Park Visitor Center, yak farms, and Buddhist monasteries. To acclimatize our body throughout our walk, we climb high and sleep low. After breakfast, we begin a short journey to the Syangboche Everest View Hotel or climb to the top of a hill in Namche for views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and nearby peaks. After returning to Namche, we go to the museum and spend the rest of the day relaxing or going on an expedition around Namche.

On the Everest Base Camp trip, the path from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche is one of the more confusing ones. Although Tengboche is only 420 meters (1,378 feet) higher in height than Namche Bazaar, you will gain more than double that amount throughout the day. As you ascend over the settlement and turn onto the sandy trail carved into the side of the valley wall, the trail will initially have a slight inclination.

Once you are on this path, you will continue along it for the following 2.5 miles / 4 km while gradually gaining height. Given that it is a large level, sandy path, this is the simplest part of the walk. But be prepared for some stair parts along the route as well.

We will travel from the town of Tengboche to the village of Dingboche early in the morning. It will be a stunning day as you go down the valley, past the glacier river below, and toward the distant peaks covered in snow. The settlement of Pangboche and the renowned mountain Ama Dablam are both visible from the trail, making this a very memorable day of your trekking trip in Nepal.

As you continue after Deboche and gain altitude, you will eventually pass by a wall of inscribed stones. Soon after, as you walk along the valley walls, you will cross a suspension bridge that will take you to the left side of the valley. There will be some expansive views of Ama Dablam and the neighbouring mountain range in front of you.

On this day, you will stay at Dingboche for acclimatization. We moved on foot in the direction of Chukhung, a little settlement northeast of Dingboche. Only a few yaks were grazing in the huge expanse as we strolled through it and took in the scenery. We were getting really cold and the road was extremely windy. After exploring the chhunkung, we will trek to Dingboche overnight.

The route to Lobuche for the day begins by turning left after passing through the Dingboche settlement. You would have started in this location the day before if you had chosen to climb Nangkartshang Peak.

However, you will merely continue up into the valley along the slightly inclined road that runs beside the mountain's wall rather than climbs the peak. The one-hour ascent to the Thukla Pass is the most challenging leg of the walk from Dingboche to Lobuche. You'll be climbing steadily uphill for a little less than a kilometer until you see the Khumbu Glacier and the Everest Memorial directly in front of you.

The Everest Base Camp walk takes you from Lobuche to Gorak Shep, the trail's highest town, where you will spend the entirety of your journey sleeping. The closest village to the actual Everest Base Camp, which you will undoubtedly see later in the day, is Gorak Shep. This guide will explain the history of the route section between Lobuche and Gorak Shep as well as what to expect on the trip.

After a hearty breakfast and departure from your Lobuche teahouse, it's time to start the 2.8-mile (4.5-kilometre) hike to Gorak Shep. You will be walking alongside the Khumbu Glacier with the Nupste face in front of you as the stony and sandy road gradually ascends. As you move from one piece of path to the next, there will be some areas that demand a little bit of a harder elevation.

You will gradually see more and more of the Khumbu Glacier and the surrounding mountain range as you ascend higher and higher.

As you proceed, you will undoubtedly pass a number more Sherpa flag memorials because you are drawing nearer to Everest Base Camp. You will be able to plainly see Mount Everest once you have travelled over a few more inclinations and descents on a more rocky and rough trail.

Early in the morning, we started our climbed Kala Patthar (5,643 m) to take in the views of Mount Everest beautifully framed by the Himalayan mountain range before descending to Dzongla. Although it became more difficult to breathe as we ascended, it wasn't as taxing on our bodies because we had already experienced these heights (when we crossed Kongma La). We stayed at the summit of Kala Patthar for almost an hour before deciding it was time to descend to Dzongla before dusk. Overnight in the Dzongla.

Enjoy the 12.5-mile stroll from EBC to the Gokyo Lakes from Dzongla to Gokyo via Cho La. One of the greatest adventurous journeys to experience the thrill of walking adventure through a 5000-meter Himalayan pass is the Dzongla to Gokyo trek route. Although the pass is not particularly challenging, it does have a challenging glacier passage. After traversing the glacier on the trail to the Cho La Pass, descend far into the area filled with loose rocks.

The route from Cho La Pass to Taknak is a little challenging. Travelling from Dzongla to Cho La Pass is simple, but getting to Thagnak or Gokyo for an overnight stop requires a difficult journey.

On this day we spend one day at Gokyo and after having our breakfast, we climb to Gokyo Ri. The Gokyo Ri Trek is for ardent hikers who desire to see the genuine Everest Region treasures.

The beautiful backdrop of the Himalayas has never failed to leave a lasting effect on trekkers. Swashbucklers have always been drawn to it and can't help but visit once they learn about it.

While there are many breathtaking locations for hikers to visit in the Himalayas, Gokyo Ri draws the most attention. Gokyo Ri, which has spiralled to a height of 17,575 feet, is located in Khumbu Valley to the west of Ngozumpa Glacier.

There is a nice facility for food and lodging if you want to remain in the Everest region. Due to its popularity as a trekking location, the Everest Region boasts a large number of well-equipped hotels and lodges that provide the best hospitality.
In the Khumbu Region, hotels provide a selection of regional and international cuisines. But the prices will also rise as you ascend in altitude. The majority of the hotels and resorts in this area provide electricity and hot water facilities. They will offer boiled water set on fire if there is no hot water shower.
With the exception of meat products, the entire Everest Region offers fresh, healthful meals.

The cost of the Gokyo lake trek per person ranges from USD 1400. It included your travel expenses, a permit, transportation, lodging, a guide, a porter, etc. However, the price varies according to the time of year you travel and the excursions you plan on taking. The Gokyo Lake Trek offers breathtaking views of the secluded Gokyo Valley. It is a turquoise glacial valley. It provides breathtaking mountain vistas of mountains such as Mount Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Everest.

The panoramic views of the turquoise lakes with the 8,000+ meter peaks in the distance are a very unique experience. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to ascend Gokyo Ri, the peak that looks down on the quaint community of Gokyo. Some of the most breathtaking vistas of Cho Oyu and Mount Everest are provided by this ascent. The views along the typical Everest base camp trekking route might surpass Kalapathar, which is the most well-liked viewpoint. You can walk for a few hours without coming across another person on the side trip to the Gokyo Lakes because it is still a pretty peaceful road. The atmosphere can occasionally be detracted from the usual EBC trekking route's heavy traffic.

The side journey to Gokyo Lakes, climbing Gokyo Ri, and traversing the Cho-La Pass or Renjo La Pass are all worthwhile supplementary challenges in this area.

A UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its high mountain peaks, glaciers, deep valleys, and Sherpa communities, the Everest/Sagarmatha National Park contains Mount Everest. Thousands of hikers, wildlife enthusiasts, and explorers visit this area every year to take in the region's amazing geography. Almost all of them make it to Everest Base Camp (EBC). To enter Everest Base Camp, you must have both a Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit and a Khumbu Rural Municipality Permit.

Sagarmatha national park entry permit
Since Mount Everest, also known as Sagarmatha in Nepal, is the highest peak in the world at 8849 meters (29,032 feet) above sea level, Sagarmatha National Park is also known as Everest National Park. The Khumbu region of Nepal is home to Sagarmatha National Park. It is Nepal's first national park. This bioreserve covers an area of 1148 square kilometres and has an altitude range of 2845 to 8848 meters. The Qomolangma National Nature Preserve of Tibet Autonomous Region and the Dudh Koshi River are both in Sagarmatha National Park. In 1979, Sagarmatha National Park was designated as a natural World Heritage Site.

For entry into Sagarmatha National Park, foreign nationals must pay NPR. 3,000 per person. However, the price is NPR 1,500 for SAARC citizens and NPR 100 for Nepalis, with an additional 13% VAT. Entrance is free for children under the age of ten. To obtain this authorization, you must present your passport.

Khumbu Rural Municipality Permit
Every person will receive NPR 2000 as their admission grant to the rural municipality of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu. If you're on the standard EBC trek route, you can obtain the permit at Lukla. In order to complete the conventional EBC trek route, you must first fly from Kathmandu to Lukla. Additionally, if you're taking the traditional EBC trek route, which goes from Jiri to Salleri, you can get your entrance permit in any hamlet in the Khumbu region. Entry permits for the rural municipality of Khumbu Pasang Lhamu cannot be purchased in Kathmandu.
