Weather of EBC

The Everest Base Camp trek takes you to some of the highest regions of Nepal. You will be traveling across high altitudes throughout the trip, from 2,840 meters at Lukla to 5,364 meters at the Base Camp. High altitude regions can have unpredictable weather. Here are the four seasons that occur here: Summer/Monsoon Summer/Monsoon occurs together in Nepal, which occurs from June to August. Although there are high chances of precipitation, this season is warmer than the others. The minimum temperature along the highest point around this time will be around 0 degrees. The rain can create difficulties while trekking, including slippery trails, unpleasant atmosphere, and unclear views. Autumn Autumn occurs from September to November. This season experiences moderate temperatures and a slim chance of rainfall; thus, it is the most sought out time for this trek. The temperature and the clear weather makes up for a pleasant atmosphere for trekking. Winter Winter occurs from December to February. Though this season faces the least chances of rainfall, snowfall is still likely. But if you want to capture stunning pictures of snow-covered mountains, this is the time to go for the trek. In cases of heavy snowfall, trekking routes may be closed to ensure the safety of the trekkers. It can be freezing during this season as some areas also experience a temperature drop of -20 degrees. Therefore, winter may just be the hardest time for the EBC trek. Spring Spring occurs as the winter cold settles from March to May. The temperature starts to rise gradually, and the trees gain their lush colors. Again, precipitation drops low, and the weather is clear. The views of the vivid, colorful landscapes enlighten, and sightseeing is perfect at this time. Spring is the second most chosen time for this trek.

Best season to do EBC Trek

The best season to do the EBC trek is considered to be around autumn, and to its close seconds is spring. Since both these seasons have pleasant weather, moderate temperature, and low chances of precipitation, trekking during these seasons is more comfortable and more enjoyable. However, this does not imply that trekking is impossible during summer or winter, and the time to trek entirely depends on the trekkers' preferences of the weather.
