It is probably the least visited trekking peak in Nepal. The trekking trail takes you through zigzag route and magical rhododendron forest until you ascend out of forest at an altitude of 3,300m. The landscape changes abruptly into the rugged mountain terrain with great views of Mardi Himal, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. It takes about 3 – 4 hours uphill climb to reach Mardi Himal Base Camp from High Camp (3,580m) which offers dramatic views of entire Annapurna region. Mardi Himal Trek Highlights

Mardi Trek begins from the lakeside city of Pokhara. Pokhara offers an array of exciting activities – Phewa Lake, enjoying the view from Peace Stupa and lot more. The trek goes through the dense forest of juniper, pine and rhododendron forest which allows you to have the close peek to natural floral and faunal species. Best Season for Mardi Himal Trek

As it is high altitude trek in Nepal, the weather along the trekking route is subject to change. There are however some peak seasons and following months are considered as the best time of the year to trek Mardi Himal:
Autumn (Mid-September to Early-December): Autumn staring from Mid-September to Early-December is the peak season to trek Mardi Himal. The weather is mild and the views are excellent.
Spring (February – April): Best for naturalist. Apart from fascinating view, the blooming wild flowers and lush vegetation along the trail make the trek really memorable.
Summer (March – May):  Best for keen botanist as the entire trekking route is filled with greenery. But the continues rainfall might increase the risk of landslide and flood. Leeches are everywhere. Better not to head for the trip.
Winter (December – February):  Mountain are said to be at its best in winter. But the extreme cold and snow fall might create the problem for some trekkers. Please check the availability of teahouse before heading for the journey.

How fit do I need to be for Mardi Himal Trek?

It is an easy trek suitable for passionate hiker who have ability to walk for 4 – 5 hours a day with a light back-pack. No previous experience and technical skills are required. However it would be an asset. Exercising and jogging regularly for a few weeks prior the trek is good way to enhance strength and stability. Trekkers with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung and blood diseases must consult their prior the trip.

What the meal is like on Mardi Himal Trek?

During our trek, we get to enjoy the typical Nepalese food as well as the common international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.). Breakfast and dinner are provided on the teahouse or the lodge where we spend the night whereas the lunch is provided on the way to the next destination. The majority of fresh foods are grown organically on the farmland right there. Try corn bread for something special. Please note that you will burn lots of calories and you need to drink more water. Trekking staples like Daal Bhaat Tarkari (authentic Nepalese dish) are filling, healthy and acquire lots of calories to keep you fueled up. Beer, soda, noodle soup, coffee and water are widely available along the trail. But the price goes high as the altitude rises.

What’s accommodation is like on the Mardi Himal Trek?

The accommodation is basic once you reach Forest Camp. Teahouse or lodge offers shared bathroom and foam mattresses. In forest camp, there are only three teahouses. Running hot water is not available but you can get buckets of hot water if you ask.

How much does the Mardi Himal Trek cost?

Trekking agency charges anywhere between USD 630 – 1,000. The cost must include all the accommodation, meals, transportation and permits of the trek. It also includes airport pick-up & drop and star hotel accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
